Yet another player joining the arms race for secure hard drives. Maxtor is the first to release an actually stylish and good-looking design for a full disk encrypted hard drive. With 320GB or 160GB users get plenty of space to securely store their documents and confidential data.
The disks are equipped with 5400 rpms, a standard value which promises normal access times similar to other USB hard drives.
A nice feature is also the fact that it is completely bus powered, which means that there is no need for an additional power cable!
As most other encryption-based hard drives, however, the Maxtor BlackArmor is no different when it comes to cross platform availability. Again, Mac or Linux users will not be able to use this device, as it is a Windows-only solution.
