The US Army has announced that it is going to employ Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 on 750,000 computers over the course of this year.
This is one of the largest employments of Vista in government history and has been done with a long delay in order to test the system and wait for critical bug and security fixes.
According to Army officials, the primary reason for the update is improved usability and better security features, namely encryption.
It is interesting to see that the Army decided to shun away from independent encryption solutions such as PGP or others which are more cost effective and also considered more user-friendly then Microsoft Vista. Our guess is that Microsoft must have given them a very good deal on such a big order.
